Abstract
This article was extracted from a lecture by Professor Kauper in the Old North Church, Boston, Mass., November 7, 1973. Professor Kauper was one of a group of distinguished lecturers assembled by the American Enterprise Institute to discuss the nature and the future of the American Revolution. Each lecture in this series was video-taped for future presentation in conjunction with the nation's bicentennial celebration in 1976. Kauper's lecture was also part of a program marking the 200th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party and the 250th anniversary of the founding of the Old North Church, from whose steeple shone the lantern which sent Paul Revere off on his famous midnight ride.
