Abstract
Judge Harry T. Edwards is a Senior Judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Edwards graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1965. As a student, he developed a love for labor law, served as an editor for the Michigan Law Review, and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. Edwards started his career as an attorney for Seyfarth Shaw before returning to teach at the Law School in 1970. He was the first African American to hold a faculty position at the school. After receiving a nomination from President Jimmy Carter, Edwards served as a circuit judge for the District of Columbia Circuit, holding Chief Judge status from 1994-2001.
Edwards has also co-authored five textbooks, and he has published numerous law review articles exploring various aspects of labor law, race and the law, and collegiality in the legal profession.
